Six decades of photographing NYC schools.
The short version of how a Forest Hills portrait studio became the studio behind so many yearbooks.
- 1962
Studio founded in Forest Hills
Continental Studios opens its doors at 103-03 Metropolitan Avenue, photographing the first generation of NYC high school seniors.
- 1980s–90s
Citywide expansion
The school client list grows across Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, and the studio becomes an approved NYC DOE vendor.
- 2005
100% digital workflow
Continental Studios becomes one of the first NYC studios to deliver a fully digital workflow — capture to lab to publisher — for every school customer.
- Later 2000s
Online proofs for families
First in the NYC area to put student portrait proofs online for families to view and order, launching what is now mypersonalphotos.net.
- Today
Three generations of yearbooks
Many of the families we photograph now were photographed by us in the 80s and 90s. The studio is staffed full-time, year-round, in the same Forest Hills building.
